Nangong Wan won the race for the Tao Ancestor Han's affections because she understands him the most. She has the least presence in the novel is also partially the reason why. PS: The ending theme you can catch a glimpse of Han Li wearing a white robe with dark green jacket and sash. It is very Han Li's style. Based on official artworks, white + dark green jacket is Chi and Foundation Stage attire. Then there's one that looks really OOC for Han Li, he wears a very loose white robes revealing his chest and abs. Feels like it's just a brainless attempt at fanservice for the females side.

Han Li values his life so much and is so cleverly cautious that he'll make Cautious Hero look like a paranoid idiot, I don't think he'll dress so flamboyantly to draw attention. no in the novel she explain why she lie. because of their intimate moment in the earlier episode, he became her hearts demon and stagnate her cultivation. yea he ruin her purity so she either have to kill him or marry him and duo culitvate together. she dotn want to kill him so she choose dual culitivation with him but she want to test him first to see what kind of person he is and what whether he chose her or other path. if he chose her, they marry and live happily ever after, if he chose otherwise, they split, each go their own way and "never" to meet again.

That's way way further in the novel, at the moment we are around chapter 362, and in chapter 714 she said this:


"This wasn’t because I didn’t wish reveal my true identity, but I couldn’t tell you that a Core Formation cultivator like myself came to rescue you with the particular intention of marrying you! Again she is proud, otherwise she would not have felt embarrassed when she absorbed Han Li's Qi, let alone come and rescue Han Li.

Like most authors they tend to change or forget ideas they have in earlier chapters and then when they remember their either subtlety retconn or just write it whether they remember what they wrote in the past or not

Anyway you want to interpret it as Nangong Wan was testing to see if Han Li is worth whereas I interpret it as she being proud, I dont disagree with your interpretation, but I still hold fast to mine
